General description

14:0 Ether Coenzyme A, also known as tetradecyl coenzyme A (CoA), is a long-chain acyl-CoA ester and a thioether analog of myristoyl coenzyme A. Long-chain acyl-CoA esters play an important role in a plethora of cellular functions. These lipids are involved in regulation of fatty acid synthesis, enzyme systems, vesicle trafficking, ion channels and ion pumps.

A detailed analysis of the subcellular distribution of acyl-CoA esters in rat liver revealed that significant amounts of long-chain acyl-CoA esters are present in highly purified nuclei. No contamination of microsomal or mitochondrial marker enzymes was detectable in the nuclear
