General description

α-Terpinene (1-isopropyl-4-methyl-1,3-cyclohexadiene, TER) is a monoterpene found in various plant volatile oils. It is commonly employed as flavoring additive in foods and beverages, as fragrance in cosmetics, and as scent in household products. It is one of the major component of the essential oil of Melaleuca alternifolia.

Application

  • Antidepressant and anxiolytic potential of Citrus reticulata Blanco essential oil: a network pharmacology and animal model study.: This study evaluates the antidepressant and anxiolytic effects of essential oils containing α-Terpinene, providing evidence of its therapeutic potential in mental health treatments (Nguyen et al., 2024).
