Professor Seth Herzon
The Herzon group has developed highly active catalysts for the anti-Markovnikov hydration and reductive hydration of terminal alkynes to form aldehydes and linear alcohols, respectively. The reductive hydration reaction proceeds by formation of an aldehyde intermediate that is reduced in situ. The catalysts 794120 and 794139, and the dry mixture of ligand and catalyst L511692, are air- and moisture stable. All reactions should be performed in deoxygenated solvents.
