Gene Information

human ... TSG6(7130)

General description

Anti-TSG6 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total TSG6 protein.
Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α–stimulated gene 6 protein (TSG-6) is an inflammation-associated secreted protein. It has a molecular weight of about 35 kDa. TSG-6 possesses Link and CUB_C domains, along with a with a short amino-terminal sequence. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 2q23.3.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human TSG6.

Immunogen Range: 21-70

Biochem/physiol Actions

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α–stimulated gene 6 protein (TSG-6) has been implicated in regulation of cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions during inflammation and tumorigenesis. TSG-6 possesses anti-inflammatory properties. It is also known to reduce inflammatory reactions triggered by ischemia in the heart. Thus, it might have a potential role in treating heart disease with other cells such as skeletal myoblasts, fetal myoblasts and embryonic stem cells.
