General description

Solute carrier family 1 (glutamate/neutral amino acid transporter), member 4 (ASCT1, SATT, SLC1A4) is a sodium dependent concentrative transporter of neutral amino acids such as alanine, glutamate, serine, cysteine and the imino acids, hydroxyproline and proline. Defective SLC1A4 has been linked to multiple system atrophy (MSA), an adult-onset sporadic neurodegenerative disease.

Specificity

Anti-SLC1A4 polyclonal antibody reacts with bovine, human, mouse, rat, chicken, and zebrafish solute carrier family 1 (glutamate/neutral amino acid transporter), member 4 proteins.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the C terminal region of human SLC1A4

Application

Anti-SLC1A4 polyclonal antibody is used to tag solute carrier family 1 (glutamate/neutral amino acid transporter), member 4 for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in plasma by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the roles of solute carrier family 1 (glutamate/neutral amino acid transporter), member 4 in the concentrative uptake of neutral amino acids such as alanine, glutamate, serine, cysteine and the imino acids, hydroxyproline and proline.

Biochem/physiol Actions

SLC1A4 is a transporter for alanine, serine, cysteine, and threonine. It exhibits sodium dependence.

Sequence

Synthetic peptide located within the following region: ATKKGEQELAEVKVEAIPNCKSEEETSPLVTHQNPAGPVASAPELESKES

Physical form

Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.
