General description

TdT (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase) is a template-independent DNA polymerasethat adds nucleotides randomly to single-stranded DNA. This randomization plays a role inacquired immunity by increasing antigen receptor diversity and aiding in the generation ofimmunoglobulins and T-cell antigen receptors. TdT immunoreactivity is observed mainly in the thymus. Anti-TdT is often used to visualize lymphoblastic lymphomas and has also beenobserved in some cases of acute myeloid leukemia.

Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) represents a useful marker for the diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and lymphoblastic lymphoma. It is usually assayed in fresh tissue or cell suspensions by enzyme analysis, immunofluorescence, or immunoperoxidase. We have obtained satisfactory staining for

We propose that 12E7 (CD99) expression, along with TdT, bcl-2, and CD34 reactivity in lymphoblastic lymphoma (LyL)/acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), distinguishes this group of neoplasms from small noncleaved cell lymphomas (SNCLs) in both pediatric and adult patients, thereby narrowing the

We encountered a child with an intraosseous small round cell tumor that was negative for LCA, CD20 (L26), and CD3 and positive for vimentin, CD99 (MIC-2), and periodic acid-Schiff. The tumor exhibited rosette-like formations. This case was initially interpreted as

In the differential diagnosis of small round cell tumors (SRCTs), terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) is often used as a marker for lymphoblastic lymphomas and leukemias. However, the specificity of TdT using the avidin-biotin-immunoperoxidase (ABC) method is not well documented. To
