Sodium 1-heptanesulfonate monohydrate can be used as a reactant to prepare N-(prop-2-ynyl)heptane-1-sulfonamide by reacting with propargylamine. It is also used as a catalyst in the synthesis of aryl-1-arylmethyl-1H-1,3-benzo[d]imidazoles by the condensation reaction of o-phenylenediamine with various aromatic aldehydes.
