General description

We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which belongs to one of the four categories of greener alternatives. This product has been enhanced for energy efficency. Click here for more information.
Zinc sulfate heptahydrate is a colorless solid and known as white vitriol. It is orthorhombic crystal, and at high temperature, it decomposes into zinc oxide and sulfur trioxide. Zinc sulfate heptahydrate is soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol and glycerol. Zinc sulfate is produced by dissolving Zinc metal in aqueous sulfuric acid. High-purity zinc oxide is treated with sulfuric acid to produce pharmaceutical-grade zinc sulphate.

Application

Zinc Sulfate Heptahydrate is widely used in the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles. It has also been used as a template for solvothermal synthesis of nanoporous TiO2 spheres with tunable chamber structures ranging from hollow to solid and hybrid compositions. Lithium sulfate and Zinc sulfate are used as an additive to increase the life cycle, cathode stability and efficiency of lead acid batteries. In addition, Zinc sulfate is also used in multiple industrial applications such as animal feed as a supplement on growth performance. It is also used as an inhibitor of fungal growth[5]. In order to increase the thickness of the Zn plating as the zinc concentration increases, zinc sulphate heptahydrate is frequently used as an electrolyte in the electroplating industry[6].
