General description

α-Cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (CHCA) is specially purified and qualified as a matrix for peptide MALDI-MS (matrix assisted laser desorption ionization-mass spectrometry) calibration standards. CHCA enhances ionization of protein or peptide standards and samples in matrix assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometers.[1]
It is also available as part of our ProteoMass MALDI calibration kits (MS-CAL1 and MS-CAL3).

Application

α-Cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid has been used as a matrix for MALDI-TOF MS (matrix assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry) analysis. The matrix has also been used for sample preparation.

Packaging

Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.

We present a new MALD1 sample preparation technique for peptide analysis using the matrix alpha-cyano-4-hydroxy-cinnamic acid (CHCA) and prestructured sample supports. The preparation integrates sample purification, based on the affinity of microcrystalline CHCA for peptides, thereby simplifying the analysis of

Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. What can be used for solublization of α-Cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid?

    1 answer
    1. α-Cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (α-CCA, α-CHCA, α-Cyano, 4-HCCA, ACCA) is soluble in methanol (up to 50 mg/ml). It is also soluble at 10 mg/ml using 50% acetonitrile in 0.05% TFA for MALDI-MS. The acetonitrile concentration can be adjusted for individual preferences. For biological applications, it has been solubilized at 100 mM in DMSO or 50 mM in ethanol.
