General description
BSA is a single polypeptide chain consisting of about 583 amino acid residues and no carbohydrates. At pH 5-7, it contains 17 intra-chain disulfide bridges and one sulfhydryl group.
Application
- Pharmacological assays; ion-binding, transport, or immunological studies
- Fatty acid and lipid research
- Stabilization of proteins and enzymes against proteolysis and denaturation
Biochem/physiol Actions
The fatty acids that are insoluble in circulating plasma are transported primarily by serum. The human serum albumin and bovine serum albumin share 76% sequence homology. Being the most abundant protein in the circulatory system, it participates in the maintenance of blood pH and carries several endogenous and exogenous compounds, including fatty acids, metal, amino acids, steroids and drugs.

Megakaryocytes (MKs) are specialized precursor cells committed to producing and proliferating platelets. In a cytoskeletal-driven process, mature MKs generate platelets by releasing thin cytoplasmic extensions, named proplatelets, into the sinusoids. Due to knowledge gaps in this process and mounting clinical

Dendritic spines of striatal Medium Spiny Neurons (MSNs) receive converging dopaminergic and glutamatergic inputs. These spines undergo experience-dependent structural plasticity following repeated drug administration and during disease states like Huntington's and Parkinson's. Thus, understanding the molecular mechanisms leading to structural

Controlled production of reactive oxygen species leads to reversible oxidation of protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) and has emerged as an important tier of regulation over phosphorylation-dependent signal transduction. We present a modified cysteinyl-labeling assay that detects reversible oxidation of members
