Anti-4E-BP1 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total 4E-BP1 protein.
The gene E1F4EBP1 (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E binding protein 1) is located on human chromosome 8p11. 4E-BP1 is a multifactor regulated multifunctional protein. It belongs to the translation repressor protein family.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human 4E-BP1.
Immunogen Range: 30-79
Application
Anti-4E-BP1 antibody has been used in western blotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
E1F4EBP1 (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E binding protein 1) is involved in protein synthesis, cell growth and survival. Phosphorylation of E1F4EBP1 releases it from eIF4E (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E), thereby resulting in cap-dependent translation. E1F4EBP1 is also involved in tumorigenesis and the gene is overexpressed in various carcinomas. It also serves as a substrate for mTORC1 (mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1).
