How does the mechanism of action (MOA) of Product No. MP0030, LookOut® Mycoplasma Elimination Kit, differ from that of BM cyclin?
1 answer-
The key distinction lies in Product No. MP0030, LookOut® Mycoplasma Elimination Kit, which actively eradicates mycoplasma by disrupting the membrane. As a lipopeptide, it identifies cholesterol-rich regions in the membrane (as the concentration of cholesterol in mycoplasma membranes is higher than in eukaryotic cells), creating a pore through which the surrounding medium flows into the mycoplasma, ultimately causing it to burst. In contrast, standard antibiotics simply inhibit metabolic pathways, necessitating the rinsing out of mycoplasma through a medium change. If the process is halted prematurely, any remaining mycoplasma can regrow.
