Application

Jasmonic acid (JA) is a plant hormone derived from linolenic acid. Jasmonic acid is involved in plant cell signaling responses to abiotic and biotic stress. JA is involved in the regulation of processes that include growth inhibition, senescence, flower development, leaf abscission and tendril coiling. JA is also involved in wound healing of plants and systemic acquired resistance to attack by insects.

Plants possess a family of potent fatty acid-derived wound-response and developmental regulators: the jasmonates. These compounds are derived from the tri-unsaturated fatty acids alpha-linolenic acid (18:3) and, in plants such as Arabidopsis thaliana and tomato, 7(Z)-, 10(Z)-, and 13(Z)-hexadecatrienoic acid

Plant growth and development is influenced by mutual interactions among plant hormones. The five classical plant hormones are auxins, cytokinins, gibberellins, abscisic acid and ethylene. They are small diffusible molecules that easily penetrate between cells. In addition, newer classes of

Plants have evolved sophisticated genetic networks to regulate iron (Fe) homeostasis for their survival. Several classes of plant hormones including jasmonic acid (JA) have been shown to be involved in regulating the expression of iron uptake and/or deficiency-responsive genes in
