General description

Purospher® STAR NH2, 5 µm HPLC columns are widely used for carbohydrate analysis, with a typical mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile and water. In terms of their polarity, these columns lie between bare silica and reversed-phase silica. Hence, Purospher® STAR NH2 can also be used as an ion-exchanger. In acidic solutions, the NH2-groups are protonated (-NH3 +X-) and therefore display the characteristics of a weak anion exchanger. Medium polarity Purospher® STAR NH2 columns possess hydrophilic as well as hydrophobic properties, thus can be used under both reversed-phase (HILIC) and normal-phase conditions. However, retention is weaker than on silica or RP-supports. Purospher® STAR NH2 columns are based on ultra-pure fully porous silica particles (Type B). Purospher® STAR NH2, 5 µm LiChroCART® 250-4.6 is a cartridge column which requires a manuCART cartridge column holder part number 1.51486.0001.The recommended guard column is Purospher® STAR NH2 (5 µm) LiChroCART® 4-4 part number 1.50267.0001. LiChroCART® cartridge columns mounted with a manuCART cartridge column holder is hand-tight only and have therefore a maximum pressure stability of 250 bar. For higher pressure stability requirements Purospher® STAR NH2, 5 µm Hibar® RT 250-4.6 HPLC columns are available part number 1.51913.0001.The column dimension of 250 mm length x 4.6 mm I.D. is the optimal choice for the HPLC separation of complex.Learn more about Purospher® STAR HPLC and UHPLC ColumnsLearn more about the Supelco HPLC Column portfolio and Method development:Brochure: HPLC and UHPLC Column Selection GuideBrochure: A Practical Guide to HPLC - Method Development Guide
