General description

An internal standard suitable for levetiracetam GC/MS or LC/MS testing or isotope dilution methods in forensic analysis, clinical toxicology, pain prescription monitoring, or urine drug testing. Levetiracetam, sold under the trade name Keppra®, is an antiepileptic drug used primarily for treatment of seizures along with occasional use in treating neuropathic pain.

Application

  • Pharmaceutical reference standards: Levetiracetam-D₆ is utilized as a pharmaceutical reference standard in the development and validation of bioanalytical methods. A study by Nikolaou et al. employed this stable-labeled compound in gas chromatography with mass spectrometry for the quantification of lacosamide in human plasma, demonstrating its crucial role in therapeutic drug monitoring (Nikolaou et al., 2015).
