General description

Application

Fructose may be used as a pharmaceutical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations by spectrophotometry.

Biochem/physiol Actions

A monosaccharide in sweet fruits and honey that is soluble in water, alcohol, or ether. It is used as a preservative and an intravenous infusion in parenteral feeding.
