General description

Pararosaniline is a cationic triarylmethane dye and one of the components of basic fuchsin. It gives a brilliant red color after dyeing polyacrylonitrile fibers.

Application

Pararosaniline hydrochloride has been used:
  • to prepare Schiff reagent
  • to stain cow endometrial cytology samples
  • to counterstain Prussian blue sections of mice brains

Other Notes

This is the pure, principal component of mixtures commonly referred to as Basic Fuchsin.
