General description

The 28-amino acid n-octanoylated (at ser3) natural peptidyl ligand for the growth hormone secretagogue receptor 1a (GHSR1a). Ghrelin is secreted predominantly in the stomach and stimulates growth hormone release from the pituitary gland. Rat and mouse ghrelin differ from that of human (Cat. No. 494126) by only two amino acids.

Physical form

Supplied as a trifluoroacetate salt.

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 3 months at -20°C.
