Application
Chromium(III) oxide can be used:
- To dope TiO2 nanocrystallites photoanodes applicable in dye-sensitized solar cells.
- As a bulk mediator in the modification of carbon paste electrodes applicable in nitric oxide sensing.
Used in a solid-state reaction to form the new ternary oxide, CrVMoO7, can be used in selective oxidation.
General description
Chromium(III) oxide (Cr2O3) is an inorganic compound with wide applications in construction materials, heterogeneous catalysis, enamels, green pigments, plastic, and paints. These listed applications are due to its unique properties like high oxidative resistance and melting temperature. Furthermore, a permanent green coloring in cement is achieved by Cr2O3.
