General description

1,2-dihexanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (06:0 PC) is a hydrophobic acyl chain containing phospholipid with a critical micelle concentration of 15 mM. 06:0 PC-d22 is the deuterated form of 06:0 PC.
Deuterated fatty acids experience exchange of the deuteriums on the alpha carbon to the carbonyl, i.e., C2 position, and will therefore be a mixture of compounds that are fully deuterated and partially deuterated at that position.

Application

06:0 PC-d22 has been used in small isotropic bicelles preparation for C-peptide membrane interaction studies by diffusion nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and 2D total correlation spectroscopy (TOCSY) and in in situ infrared (IR) absorption spectra. It may be used as an internal standard in capillary electrophoresis time of flight mass spectrometer (CE-TOFMS) and liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) for the analysis of algal lipidome.

Biochem/physiol Actions

1,2-dihexanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (06:0 PC) bicelle with 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) takes a disc like conformation. Phosphocholine (PC) is the catabolized product of phosphatidylcholine (lecithin). PC mediates immune response and acts as a ligand for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR).
