Acetone cyanohydrin can be used as a cyanide source for:
- Cyanation reactions of aryl halides, aldehydes and alcohols.
- Stereospecific epoxide ring opening.
- Strecker reaction of α-amido sulfones to synthesize α-amino nitriles.
