General description
The LGALS3 enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit provides for the quantitative measurement of galectin-3 in cell culture supernatants, plasma, and serum. Galectin-3 belongs to the β-galactoside-binding protein family. It is an intracellular and extracellular lectin. Galectin-3 is expressed in immune cells and epithelial cells. It interacts with intracellular glycoproteins and plays a role in several biological processes such as angiogenesis, apoptosis, cell growth, adhesion, and differentiation.

Percutaneous mitral valve repair (PMVR) is an interventional treatment option in patients with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) and at high risk for open-heart surgery. Currently, limited information exists about predictors of procedural success after PMVR. Galectin-3 (Gal-3) and suppression of

Galectin-3 is a biomarker of heart disease. However, it remains unknown whether increase in galectin-3 levels is dependent on aetiology or disease-associated conditions and whether diseased heart releases galectin-3 into the circulation. We explored these questions in mouse models of

Evidence for epithelial cell (EC)-derived cytokines (e.g., thymic stromal lymphopoietin [TSLP]) activating human basophils remains controversial. We therefore hypothesize that ECs can directly activate basophils via cell-to-cell interaction. Basophils in medium alone or with IL-3 ± anti-IgE were coincubated with

Galectin-3 (Gal-3) is a pleiotropic glycan-binding protein shown to be involved in sepsis and acute kidney injury (AKI). However, its role has never been elucidated in sepsis-associated AKI (S-AKI). We aimed to explore Gal-3's role and its potential utility as

Invasive candidiasis is an important cause of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, including premature infants. The S-type lectin, galectin-3 (gal3), is increasingly recognized for its role in antifungal host defense. This study tested the hypothesis that tissue gal3 expression is
