Gene Information

human ... GRIN2B(2904)

Specificity

Recognizes NMDAR2B. By Western blot it recognizes a 180 kDa band in rat brain membranes. Also recognizes a 70 kDa band (thought to be a contaminant). No reactivity to NMDAR2A or NMDAR2C by Western blot. Immunolabeling is blocked by preadsorption of AB1557 with the C-terminal fusion protein that was used to generate the antibody.

Immunogen

C-Terminal Fusion Protein of the NMDAR2B (Amino acids 984-1104).

Application

Anti-NMDAR2B Antibody, pain detects level of NMDAR2B & has been published & validated for use in IP & WB.
Research Category
Neuroscience
Research Sub Category
Neurotransmitters & Receptors
Western blotting 1:200-1:1,000 (NMDAR2B is present in high concentrations in the hippocampus)

Immunoprecipitation using solubilized hippocampal slices. 3 μL will (under appropriate conditions) quantitatively immunoprecipitate all NMDAR2B in 200 μg of rat brain lysate.

Not suggested for use in immunohistochemistry.

Note: Above dilutions are with 35S-protein A; with ECL dilutions may need to be considerably higher to obtain specific immunolabeling.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.

Epilepsy and intellectual disability are associated with rare variants in the GluN2A and GluN2B (encoded by GRIN2A and GRIN2B) subunits of the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR), a ligand-gated ion channel with essential roles in brain development and function. By assessing genetic

A single dose of ketamine induces rapid synaptogenesis, which may underlie its antidepressant effect. To test whether repeated exposure to ketamine triggers sustained synaptogenesis, we administered a

Signaling via N-methyl-d-aspartate receptors (NMDARs) is critical for the maturation of glutamatergic synapses, partly through a developmental switch from immature synapses expressing primarily GluN2B- and GluN3A-containing subtypes to GluN2A-rich mature ones. This subunit switch is thought to underlie the synaptic
