Metalaxyl-M is the R-enantiomer of the systemic fungicide metalaxyl. It is a widely used acetylalanine fungicide.
As per Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009, repealing directive 91/414/EEC, metalaxyl-M is approved for use as a plant protection agent in the European Union. The Commission Regulation (EU) 2020/617 of 5th May 2020 renewed the approval of use for metalaxyl-M in products of plant origin until 31st May 2035. The Reg. (EU) 2017/1164 sets a maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.7 mg/kg and 0.01 mg/kg in fresh/frozen fruits and tree nuts respectively for metalaxyl including other mixtures of constituent isomers including metalaxyl-M (sum of isomers).
Metalaxyl-M has to be monitored in the Multiannual Control Programme for Pesticides Residues (MACP), run within the EU and EFTA in/on products of plant origin.
Application
The metalaxyl-M CRM may also find following uses:
- Mixed-mode solid phase extraction (SPE) and liquid chromatographic-mass spectrometric (LC-MS) determination of 9 fungicides in red and white wine samples
- Analyze the uptake and distribution of two fungicides and two insecticides in greenhouse grown chrysanthemum by QuEChERS-based extraction from the root, stem, leaf, flower, and soil samples, followed by an UPLC-MS/MS determination
- Simultaneous determination of six fungicides residues in grape, wine, and raisin samples by HPLC-MS/MS
- Separation of 21 chiral pesticides by supercritical fluid chromatography-mass spectrometry (SFC-ESIMS/MS) from tomato, orange, leek, and cayenne samples
- Investigation of 109 pesticide residues in gherkin samples by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS)
- Multi-residue analysis of 58 pesticide residues in water samples by extraction using solvent-based de-emulsification dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (SD-DLLME) and determination by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
