Gene Information

human ... IKBKB(3551)

General description

IKBKB codes for the enzyme, inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa B kinase subunit β (IKK-β/I-K-B kinase 2). It is mapped to human chromosome 8p11.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human IKK-beta.

Immunogen Range: 166-215

Application

Anti-IKK-β antibody produced in rabbit has been used in western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa B kinase subunit β (IKK-β) acts as a regulator of cell survival and inflammatory response. It promotes cell survival and metabolic adaptation during glutamine deprivation. IKK-β phosphorylates inhibitor of KB proteins and facilitates their degradation. This further leads to the activation of nuclear factor KB (NF-KB) transcription factors. It also phosphorylates β-catenin, tuberous sclerosis 1 (TSC1) and Bcl-2-associated death promoter (BAD).
