General description

Natriuretic peptide receptor A/guanylate cyclase A (atrionatriuretic peptide receptor A) (NPR1) is an atrial (ANP) and brain (BNP) natriuretic peptide receptor. NPR1 is a membrane-bound guanylate cyclase found predominantly in the kidneys that when activated by ANP or BNP promotes the process of sodium excretion, natriuresis.
Natriuretic peptide receptor A/guanylate cyclase A (atrionatriuretic peptide receptor A) (NPR1) is mapped to human chromosome 1q21-q22. It is present in adrenal glands, kidney and vasculature.

Specificity

Rabbit polyclonal anti-NPR1 (436-448) antibody reacts with human natriuretic peptide receptor A.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 436-448 of human NPR1.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Natriuretic peptide receptor A/guanylate cyclase A (atrionatriuretic peptide receptor A) (NPR1) is a marker gene implicated in nephropathy and hypertension phenotype. Polymorphic variant of NPR1 is associated with high risk for cardiac hypertrophy.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
