Cell Line Description

Established from a NEDH rat transplantable islet cell tumour. The cells secrete insulin and glucagon. This cell line can be used in place of CRI-D11 (Sigma Catalogue number. 88031604).

Application

Hormone studies

Culture Medium

DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 5% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:3 i.e. seeding at 3-5x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. The cells tend to grow in clumps and ribbons.
