Biochem/physiol Actions

α-Crystallin B chain is a protein encoded by the CRYAB gene in humans. αB-crystallin (ABC) and HSP27 are most abundant in human tissues. It is predominantly expressed in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and leads to aggressive tumor phenotype. αB-crystallin expression is primary found in breast carcinomas and brain metastases. αB-crystallin is overexpressed or silenced in two different TNBC cell lines. It is a novel regulator of brain metastasis in TNBC and acts as a potential biomarker for drug target in aggressive disease. αB-crystallin and VEGF expressions in human conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma (CSCCs) may play an important role in the pathogenesis. Mutation in the gene is responsible for a number of inherited human disorders, which include cardiomyopathy, skeletal muscle myopathy and cataracts.

Physical form

Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 3% bovine serum albumin and 0.05% sodium azide.

Protein homeostasis, including protein folding, refolding, and degradation, is thought to decline with aging. HSPB5 (also known as αB-crystallin) prevents target protein aggregation as a molecular chaperone and exhibits a cytoprotective function against various cell stresses. To elucidate the effect

Crystallins are a diverse group of proteins that constitute nearly 90% of the total soluble proteins of the vertebrate eye lens and these tightly packed crystallins are responsible for transparency of the lens. These proteins have been studied in different

To examine the expression of αB-crystallin and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC). Seven CSCCs and three normal conjunctivas that were surgically excised were studied. Paraformaldehyde-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections were processed for immunohistochemistry with antibodies

Basal-like breast tumors are typically (ER/PR/HER2) triple-negative and are associated with a high incidence of brain metastases and poor clinical outcomes. The molecular chaperone αB-crystallin is predominantly expressed in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and contributes to an aggressive tumor phenotype
