The Hemacolor Stain Set does not recommend the use of coverslips as they result in stain fading. However, options for viewing the slides include placing immersion oil directly on the smear, viewing under the microscope, and storing the slides at room temperature in the dark. Alternatively, coverslips can be placed on top of the slide without using mounting media.
