This kit utilizes Neutral Red, a vital dye, to measure cell viability after exposure to any specific potential toxin. Neutral red is only taken up by viable cells. Cell viability is determined by measuring the absorbance following the specified incubation period to the potential toxin of interest. A positive control is not included and would be the untreated cells. In this case, the viability of cells exposed to a given wavelength of light compared to cells that have not been exposed.
