Gene Information

human ... NOS3(4846)

General description

Anti-ENOS Antibody detects endogenous levels of total ENOS protein.
The ENOS (endothelial nitric oxide synthase) gene is mapped to human chromosome 7q36.1. ENOS is expressed predominantly in the endothelial cells.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human eNOS.

Immunogen Range: 581-630

Application

Anti-ENOS antibody produced in rabbit has been used in SDS-PAGE and western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

ENOS (endothelial nitric oxide synthase) is responsible for the production of nitric oxide. eNOS is known to stimulate vasodilation and regulate inflammation and myocyte function. Impairment of endothelium-dependent vasodilatation that is observed in acute hyperglycaemia condition is due to suppression of ENOS. The gene might be involved in lipolysis. Variation in ENOS might lead to Henoch-Schönlein purpura. ENOS polymorphism affects the NO concentration in plasma.
