Gene Information

General description

Monoclonal Anti-LRP1 (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma LRP1-11 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to a fragment of human LRP1, conjugated to KLH. LDL receptor family. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor related protein 1 (LRP1) gene is mapped to human chromosome 12q13.3. LRP1 protein, belongs to the LDL receptor family. LRP1, a single-chain 600 kDa type I transmembrane glycosylated precursor protein, is produced in the endoplasmic reticulum. This protein is proteolytically cleaved in the Golgi complex into two subunits including 85-kDa membrane-bound C-terminal membrane spanning subunit and a noncovalently attached 515-kDa N-terminal subunit.

Specificity

Monoclonal Anti-LRP1 recognizes human, rat, and mouse LRP1.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-LRP1 antibody produced in mouse has been used in:
  • immunoblotting
  • enzyme linked immunosorbent assay
  • immunofluorescence

Biochem/physiol Actions

Low density lipoprotein receptor related protein 1 (LRP1) plays an essential role in early stages of embryonic development. It aids in lipoprotein metabolism, proteinase regulation, activation of lysosomal enzymes and cellular entry of viruses and toxins. Additionally, It is also implicated in cell signaling pathways, cell migration, and neurodevelopment. LRP1 interacts with at least 30 different ligands including lipoproteins, proteinases, proteinase-inhibitor complexes, extra cellular matrix (ECM) proteins and various intracellular proteins. Furthermore, LDL receptor related protein 1 also has an ability to associate with bacterial toxins and viruses.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

Store at –20 °C. For continuous use, store at 2–8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze at –20 °C in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discard if not used within 12 hours.
