General description

Captan, an agricultural fungicide, reacts with sulfhydryl group to release thiophosgenes which can denature proteins. It has carcinogenic and teratogenic properties which can cause oral toxicity to birds and mammals.

Application

Captan has been used as reference standard in HPLC analysis to determine captan concentration from tablets.
