General description
Met Enkephalin is an endogenous opioid peptide neurotransmitter found naturally in the brains of many animals, including humans. Methionine enkephalin (Met Enkephalin) is a pentapeptide that appears to enhance immune function at low doses and suppress at high doses. This molecule acts in the central nervous, neuroendocrine, and immune systems. During development of the brain Met Enkephalin is thought to act as a growth factor. Met Enkephalin may be capable of enhancing immune function in cancer or AIDS patients.
Specificity
Met-enkephalin
Immunogen
Met-enkephalin, Hemocyanin conjugate.
Application
Immunohistochemistry (with immunoperoxidase detection *): 48 hour incubation, 4°C.
Spinal cord nerve fibers (rat): 1:2,000-1:4,000.
Immunofluorescence*: overnight incubation, +2-8°C
Duodenum endocrine cells & nerve fibers (pig): 1:2,000
Ileum endocrine cells & nerve fibers μguinea pig): 1:4,000.
*fixative-any cross-linking reagent
Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.
