General description

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a natural phospholipid nutrient, which is located in the brain, lungs, heart, liver and skeletal muscle. It is an important component of the cell membrane.

Application

Brain PS has also been used in protein-lipid overlay (PLO) assay to evaluate the binding of SEIPIN to phosphatidic acid (PA).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylserine (PS) regulates the activity of receptors, ion channels, enzymes and signaling molecules. It is implicated in monitoring membrane fluidity. PS plays a vital role in apoptosis and blood clotting.
