General description

β-Cyclodextrin is a cyclic oligosaccharide with a cage-like supramolecular structure. The internal cavity is apolar and can form inclusion complexes with many compounds such as fats, flavors, and colors. This molecular complexation ability of β-CD is used in the food industry for flavor protection or flavor delivery and in the cosmetic industry for the controlled release of fragrances.

Application

  • Modulating the ion-transfer electrochemistry of perfluorooctanoate with serum albumin and beta-cyclodextrin.: This article discusses the modification of the electrochemical properties of perfluorooctanoate through interactions with beta-cyclodextrin and serum albumin, illustrating the utility of beta-cyclodextrin in environmental cleanup technologies and biochemical sensing (Lamichhane & Arrigan, 2024).
