  1. Can this product be dissolved in water? What's the solubility?

    1. This product is a spray-dried egg yolk. The material is not tested for solubility and will not form a clear solution. However, a prepared egg yolk emulsion is available as product 1.03784. This item is prepared at 500 mL of liquid egg yolk in 1L of 1/2 normal saline. Similar rates are expected when preparing the powdered product. One egg yolk is approx. 8.7 g when dried.   2. How is the egg yolk powder prepared? are the chickens tested? Were they aseptically collected?

    1. The egg yolk is prepared by separating the membrane from the inner yolk. This material is spray-dired and not considered sterile. The eggs were obtained from USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) or Foreign Government Facilities. While not a reported specification, the raw material is tested for Salmonella, coliform, e. coli, mold, and aerobes. This product is intended for research use only and is unsuitable for human or veterinary use.
