General description

A Certified Spiking Solution® suitable for use in LC/MS or GC/MS applications in clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, urine drug testing, prescription monitoring or pharmaceutical research. Amitriptyline, marketed as the brand drug Elavil, Tryptizol, or Laroxyl, is a tricyclic antidepressant used in the treatment of major depression, clinical/endogenous depression and involutional melancholia.

Application

  • Tricyclic antidepressant research: A study demonstrated the use of antisolvent precipitation to formulate excipient-free nanoparticles of psychotropic drugs, including amitriptyline hydrochloride, which could significantly impact the development of novel drug delivery systems for neuropharmacological applications (Wu and Wang, 2022).

  • Neuropharmacology amitriptyline: Research into micellar and interfacial phenomena of amitriptyline hydrochloride with cationic ester-bonded gemini surfactants explored its potential in enhancing drug solubility and stability, which is crucial for neuropharmacological studies and drug delivery systems (Abdul Rub, 2020).

  • Amitriptyline liquid formulation: A methodology to create polymeric nanocarriers containing hydrophilic low molecular-weight drugs, such as amitriptyline, offers a green strategy with very high drug loading, facilitating the development of amitriptyline-based formulations for pharmacological research (Villamizar-Sarmiento et al., 2019).
