General description

The Janus family of tyrosine kinases (JAK) includes JAK1, JAK2, JAK3 and Tyk2. This family associates with a variety of cytokine receptors and is activated by ligand binding. Upon ligand binding to cytokine receptors, JAKs phosphorylate themselves and their associated receptors. This provides multiple binding sites for signaling proteins containing SH2 or other phospho-tyrosine-binding domains, including STATs, Shc, insulin receptor substrates and FAK.

Specificity

This antibody recognizes the protein kinase 1 domain of JAK2.

Immunogen

Epitope: Protein kinase 1 domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the protein kinase 1 domain of mouse JAK2.

KANK1-PDGFRB is a fusion gene generated by the t(5;9) translocation between KANK1 and the platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta gene PDGFRB. This hybrid was identified in a myeloproliferative neoplasm featuring severe thrombocythemia, in the absence of the JAK2 V617F mutation.

JAK2 V617F is a mutant-activated JAK2 kinase found in most polycythemia vera (PV) patients; it skews normal proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and simulates aberrant expansion of erythroid progenitors. JAK2 V617F is known to activate some

Overactive Janus kinases (JAKs) are known to drive leukemia, making them well-suited targets for treatment. We sought to identify new JAK-activating mutations and instead found a JAK1-inactivating pseudokinase mutation, V666G. In contrast to other pseudokinase mutations that canonically lead to

The endocrine system is crucial for maintaining whole-body homeostasis. Little is known regarding endocrine hormones secreted by the heart other than atrial/brain natriuretic peptides discovered over 30 years ago. Here, we identify growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15) as a heart-derived hormone
