General description
The PTFE substrate is designed for analysis in the mid-infrared region (4000 to 200 cm-1).* The cards fit most FT-IR instruments.
Sample preparation
The PTFE substrate eliminates the need for mulls, solution cells, pellets, and disks. Most samples may be placed directly on the substrate without any initial prep. Some solids, such as rubbers and plastics, may be applied to the substrate following pyrolysis or solvenation.
Accuracy and reproducibility
PTFE substrate yields accurate and reproducible results, eliminating concentration and dispersion problems found with mulls and pellets.
Easy cleanup
No messy cleanups as with conventional methods. After analysis, refer to the analyte′s SDS for proper handling and disposal procedures. Cards may also be stored for future reference.
* The strong C-F dipole produces absorption bands in the "fingerprint" region (1200 to 700 cm-1); therefore, analysis in this region must be carefully scrutinized.
