General description

Anti-CNPase antibody, Mouse monoclonal, (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the 11-5B hybridoma produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from RBF/Dn mouse immunized with human 2α,3α-cyclic nucleotide 3α-phosphodiesterase. CNPase (2α,3α-cyclic nucleotide 3α-phosphodiesterase), also known as CNP, is a membrane-anchored enzyme within the myelin sheath. CNPase is primarily a heterodimer of approximately 94 kDa. The heterodimer consists of a varied proportion of CNPase isoforms CNP1 (46 kDa) and CNP2 (48 kDa).

Immunogen

Human 2′,3′-cyclic nucleotide 3′-phosphodiesterase

Application

Anti-CNPase antibody, Mouse monoclonal has been used in immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry.

Biochem/physiol Actions

CNPase (2α,3α-cyclic nucleotide 3α-phosphodiesterase), interacts with cytoskeletal proteins, cholesterol-rich cell membranes, nucleotides and various other proteins. Abnormalities in CNPase expression cause perturbations in myelin structure and are associated with neurological diseases such as schizophrenia and multiple sclerosis. It was shown that CNPase can bind Gag structural protein and prevent the assembly of HIV-1 particle, demonstrating the anti-viral activity of CNPase.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
