N-[3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine has also been used as an organic ligand for the surface modification of silica gel to uptake heavy metal ions. It can react with fluorinated carbon nanotubes (F-CNT) to form aminoalkylalkoxysilane functionalized carbon nanotubes.
