應用

3-Tropanylindole-3-carboxylate methiodide was used to study the role of 5-HT3 receptor-mediated cell signaling in mouse interstitial cells of Cajal and in cocaine-induced aggressive behavior in hamsters.

生化/生理作用

3-Tropanylindole-3-carboxylate methiodide is an antagonist of 5-HT3 receptor that has antiemetic effects. It modulates the pacemaker activities of the mouse small intestine cells. It regulates the aggressive behavior induced by cocaine in hamsters.

Hamsters repeatedly exposed to cocaine during adolescence display high levels of offensive aggression compared to saline-treated littermates. The escalated offensive phenotype observed in adolescent cocaine-treated animals is modulated by serotonin (5-HT) signaling and can be suppressed by inhibiting 5-HT type
