General description

Decane is a hydrocarbon which is categorized under the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) group of chemicals.

Application

Decane may be used as a reference standard for the identification of decane in a commercial paint thinner by gas chromatography (GC) with chemically modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes as stationary phase and in human blood by in-field liquid-liquid extraction with subsequent laboratory analysis using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and on-column large-volume injection.
It may be used as an extraction solvent of headspace single-drop microextraction (HS-SDME) with droplet derivatization for the determination of hexanal and heptanal in human blood by GC-MS.
