General description

Anti-Galectin 3 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Galectin 3 protein.
Galectin 3 is a carbohydrate-binding protein. It is abundantly expressed in the extracellular matrix, the cytoplasm and the nucleus. It contains an intrinsically disordered N-terminal domain and a canonical CRD (carbohydrate recognition domain). It is mapped to human chromosome 14q22.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Galectin 3.

Immunogen Range: 141-190

Biochem/physiol Actions

Galectin 3 controls cell activation, migration, adhesion and signaling. It plays a role in cancer progression after it is initiated. Expression of galectin-3 regulates apoptosis and development of T-cell. It participates in several physiological and pathological processes like pre-mRNA splicing, neoplastic transformation and immune responses.
