Gene Information

human ... MYB(4602)

General description

Myeloblastosis (MYB) proto-oncogene, transcription factor (MYB) gene codes for a transcriptional activator, Myb-nuclear factor 1 B-type (MYB-NFIB), and is located on human chromosome 6q23.3.

Immunogen

Peptide with sequence C-QRHYNDEDPEKEKR from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_005366.2.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Myeloblastosis (MYB) proto-oncogene, transcription factor (MYB) plays a key role in modulating various cellular genes that participates in the proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis of cells. This protein promotes the development and metastasis of salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC). MYB plays ah role in initiating and maintaining acute leukemias. It participates in pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, and breast cancer (BC).

Ren-Ming Yang et al.
Oncogene, 38(26), 5239-5249 (2019-04-12)
Over 70% of human breast cancers are estrogen receptor-positive (ER+), most of which express MYB. In these and other cell types, the MYB transcription factor regulates the expression of many genes involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, tumorigenesis, and apoptosis. So

The incidence of recurrent t(6;9) translocation of the MYB proto‑oncogene to NFIB (the gene that encodes nuclear factor 1 B‑type) in adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) tumour tissues is high. However, MYB [the gene that encodes transcriptional activator Myb (MYB)] overexpression is more common

Salivary gland adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is rare, aggressive, and challenging to treat. Many ACCs have a t(6;9) chromosomal translocation resulting in a MYB-NFIB fusion gene, but the clinical significance is unclear. The purposes of this study were to describe
