Gene Information

human ... HP(3240)

General description

Haptoglobin (HP) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 16q22.2. There are two splice variants of the gene namely, HP1 and HP2.

Immunogen

Human haptoglobin

Application

Anti-Haptoglobin antibody is suitable for use in Ouchterlony double diffusion (1:16) and immunoelectrophoresis.
Anti-Haptoglobin antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunohistochemistry and western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Haptoglobin is an antioxidant protein that binds with hemoglobin. Haptoglobin primarily functions to inhibit oxidative damage induced by hemoglobin. Alterations in haptoglobin have been associated with the risk of diabetic vascular disorders such as retinopathy, nephropathy and cardiovascular diseases . Anti-Haptoglobin antibody is specific for haptoglobin in humans.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.2

Reconstitution

Reconstitute with 2 ml deionized water.
