Derived from the kidney cortex of a 6 week old Beagle of unknown sex. The cells support the growth of many viruses including influenza, parainfluenza-2, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, canine hepatitis, adenovirus, vaccinia and VSV (Indiana strain).
Application
DK cell line has been used to study the functional organization of the major late transcriptional unit of canine adenovirus type 2 (CAV-2).[1]
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
