General description

Sodium persulfate (Sodium peroxodisulfate) is an inorganic sodium salt. It is a cheap, eco-friendly oxidizing reagent. It is widely employed in bleaches and hair-coloring formulations.

Application

Sodium persulfate (Sodium peroxodisulfate) may be employed as an oxidizing reagent for the palladium-catalyzed C-H bond functionalization reaction of O-phenylcarbamates with arenes. It may be used to compose the initiator solution required for the preparation of hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) gel disks.

Mediated by sodium persulfate (Na(2)S(2)O(8)), a series of polysubstituted 4-pyridones were synthesized via self-condensation of N-aryl acetoacetamides, during which a novel N to C 1,3-acyl migration should be involved. The structure of 4-pyridone was unequivocally confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis.
