General description

Combined effect of NaNO2 and NaCl on the growth of Listeria monocytogenes in tryptone soya broth has been evaluated using automated turbidimetric system. Its carcinogenic effects have been examined in F-344 rats.

Application

Sodium nitrite has been used for the quantitative determination of nitrite in culture medium. It may be used in the preparation of isopropyl nitrite, via reaction with isope alcohol.
